Jean Efron, Principal

For her entire professional career, Jean has worked in the art world and developed a well-respected reputation for creative solutions to public commissions and private collections. Prior to opening Jean Efron Art Consultants in 1973, Jean was the Fine Arts Officer of the US General Services Administration, responsible for managing large-scale artwork installations for new Federal buildings. Since then, she has developed an expertise in guiding corporations, developers and local governments in building art collections, commissioning site-specific artworks, and managing public and private collections. She has also published research on the art of the 1930s and the outdoor sculpture of Washington of that period.

In addition to her private consulting, Jean has been called upon to jury and curate exhibitions for institutions such as the Corcoran Gallery of Art/WPA, the City of Baltimore, the Smithsonian Craft Show, and The College Board as well as various university gallery and local exhibitions. Jean has been invited to speak on collecting at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia. She has also spoken to audiences as varied as the Smithsonian Institution Resident Associates Program, the University of Pennsylvania Regional Trustees Council, and US News & World Report. Jean is a member of the Association of Professional Art Advisors where she has been a board member. Her studies of art and architecture earned her an M.A. from George Washington University and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.


Internships: How to Apply

Jean Efron Art Consultants LLC offers fall, spring, and summer internships for undergraduate and graduate art history and fine arts students. The internship program provides students with an opportunity to experience the operations of an art consultancy. Interns are assigned long-term projects in artist research and development and assist with client projects. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
